Elves at the North Pole are feeling a bit panicked after hearing that the spaceship which launched Santa Claus and an unknown elf into orbit on Thanksgiving isn’t finished!
“It’s scary,” said Ali Elf, nervously twirling a strand of her purple hair. “We don’t know what’s going to happen to him. Does he have enough to eat? Are there any games for him to play?”
“Games? Who cares about games?” replied Toby Elf, looking worried. “Does he have enough air to breathe?”
Gizmo to the Rescue!
Gizmo Elf, Santa’s Chief Inventor, stepped in to calm everyone down. “Don’t worry about Santa! He’s perfectly safe,” he assured the elves. “The Santa Shuttle has lots of air, and there’s a big pantry full of Mrs. Claus’ food—roast beef, corn, sweet potato pie, and a bunch of her famous cookies!”
“I wondered what happened to that food!” exclaimed Mrs. Claus when she heard.
When asked if she was worried about Santa, she replied, “Heavens, no! He’s perfectly safe. Santa and I have been together so long that I would know if he was in trouble. He’s just a little irritated to be up there, that’s all. But he spends so much time in the air on his sleigh that he’s not having any problems at all. He could stay up there for months if he had to!”
What About the Landing?
“Actually, he may have to,” Gizmo Elf added, looking a bit sheepish. “I only had one thing left to put into the shuttle.” He held up a lever marked “DOWN.” “Without this, the shuttle won’t be able to land!”
How will Santa make it back to Earth? Will this be a Christmas without Santa Claus? And we still don’t know if he has any games to play!
