- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Sift together; flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.
- Take 1/2 cup of flour mixture and stir into nuts and raisins. Set both aside.
- Cream butter until whipped soft. Add sugar a little at a time until mixture is smooth. Beat in eggs vigorously.
- Alternately stir in the flour mixture and applesauce.
- When all is mixed together, add nuts and raisins and mix well.
- Pour batter into greased and lightly floured cake mold. Bake for one hour.
- Cool ten minutes then turn out onto cake rack. When completely cool, frost as you'd like and add sprinkles or other festive candies. Or simply add a spoon of whipped cream on each slice.
